Resolution
In order to prepare the delegates for debate, I also wrote a fake resolution for a practice debate that we had. Our essential question was: Should High Schoolers be allowed a nap time? Here is an excerpt of the resolution:

After further reflection on the subject of student nap time,
Noting that the majority of teenagers only get, on average, six to seven hours a night, as opposed to the recommended nine hours,
Aware that insufficient sleep can lead to lack of motivation, obesity, increase in motor vehicle accidents and the like,
Recognizing that a scheduled nap-time during school hours may boost test scores and lead to better sleep patterns,
Keeping in mind that several students already nap on their own in class, without teacher permission,
Deeply concerned that these “illegal” naps will cause students to miss information crucial to their education,
Convinced that one short nap-time during the school day could, in fact, improve overall mood and function of a school..."
