¡Hola!

Born NOT in the USA/Nacido NO en los EEUUThe goal of this project was to employ our understanding of the vocabulary and grammatical concepts that we covered in the first semester such as hellos and goodbyes, adjectives, conjugation, subject pronouns, and sports and hobbies to write original children's books. Then, we were to present them to a local cultural education group of children. This helped us practice our pronunciation and being conversational in basic Spanish.

The Exhibition with Del Alma/La exposición con Del Alma
For our exhibition with Del Alma, we went to a local elementary school and read our stories to children ranging from grades 1-5. If they asked us to, we also read them a children's story of their choice. The point of this was to allow us to have organic Spanish conversation and practice our pronunciation. Working with the kids was a really great experience because they were really engaged in our project. Even if they didn't speak Spanish, they were patient and interested to understand what was going on. Those who were fluent in Spanish seemed to really enjoy challenging us with more complex sentence structure and vocabulary. Overall, it was a really fantastic experience.
My Reflection about the Project/Mi reflexión del trabajo
If I were to do this project again, I would definitely manage my time better. I would set aside specific time each night and work and one double page spread a night, to allow enough time for the glue to dry. Although I did not manage my time well, I am still proud of the final product. I feel that I created a very creative and aesthetically pleasing book that was engaging for my audience. One of the more difficult parts of the product was using all of our work in the first semester on vocabulary and sentence structure to create an original story. It was tough to be creative in an unfamiliar language, but overall I feel I did very well.
